Welcome to EveryScribe. Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us. This privacy policy outlines how we collect, use, and most importantly, how we protect your personal information and media files when you use our audio and video transcription services.
We built EveryScribe with privacy as a foundational feature, not an afterthought:
To provide you with our services, we collect limited types of data:
Account Information
Payment and Billing Information
Usage Details & Analytics
Media and Transcripts (Online Processing)
We implement industry-standard encryption (such as TLS/SSL) to protect data in transit. Your account metadata is stored securely on modern cloud infrastructure with strict access controls.
However, for the highest level of security, we strongly encourage users handling confidential corporate data, patient interviews, or sensitive journalistic recordings to utilize our Offline Mode, which guarantees zero network transmission of your media.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to outside parties. We only share information under the following strict circumstances:
You have full control over your data. You may:
We may update this privacy policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "created_at" date.

Updated: October 3, 2026.
The extension converts audio/video into transcripts locally. Local files, audio captured from a tab or a Chrome sharing session, filenames and their transcripts are not automatically uploaded to EveryScribe. The speech models and executable runtime run on your computer. The interface does not translate your transcript when you change its language.
Model weights download from models.everyscribe.com on first use and are cached in extension-local IndexedDB. Transcripts and their source names are saved in local history; preferences are saved in chrome.storage.local. You can delete individual history entries and downloaded models in the extension. Uninstalling the extension or clearing its browser data removes these local records. Exported files remain wherever you saved them. Closing the side panel stops audio capture.
An internet connection and an EveryScribe account are required for account and daily quota checks. Authenticated requests use the browser-managed website session. The extension sends the task type when recording usage; it does not send the local file's audio or transcript with this event. The website handles account, subscription, payment and usage records under this policy.
Page media detection runs only when you open or rescan Web media after granting temporary access by invoking the extension on that tab. It reads media URLs and titles on that page, including accessible open Shadow DOM, and displays them locally. It does not continuously monitor browsing history or automatically transmit page contents.
If you explicitly request member link extraction, the submitted URL is sent to EveryScribe and its media extraction providers. Those services fetch the linked media and return an audio download location. The extension downloads that audio and transcribes it locally. Use local files or tab capture when you want to avoid sending a source URL to extraction services. Selected media servers and our website/CDN receive ordinary network request metadata, such as IP address and request timing.
The extension contains no independent advertising, tracking or analytics SDK. We do not sell extension user data or use local media/transcripts to train models. Information is used for the transcription, account and usage services described here. The use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
For account data access/deletion or questions, contact [email protected]. Local history/model deletion is available in the extension. Account or extracted-media retention by website providers is governed by the applicable website/provider policy; local deletion does not delete an exported file or an account record.
